President Barack Obama roasted President-elect Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2011, and in 2016, Trump snagged Obama’s job.

In 2011, Trump was one of the more influential public figures calling for the release of Obama’s birth-certificate. “Why doesn’t he show his birth certificate? The fact is, if he wasn’t born in this country, he shouldn’t be the president of the United States,” President-elect Trump said in an April 9, 2011 interview with CNN.

The 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner was held April 30, just a few weeks later, and Obama addressed Trump’s birth certificate comments directly.

Obama begins the roasting of Trump, saying: “Donald Trump is here tonight!  (Laughter and applause.)  Now, I know that he’s taken some flak lately, but no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald.  (Laughter.)  And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter –- like, did we fake the moon landing?  (Laughter.)  What really happened in Roswell?  (Laughter.)  And where are Biggie and Tupac?  (Laughter and applause.)”

“But all kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your (Trump’s) credentials and breadth of experience,” Obama continued.

“For example — no, seriously, just recently, in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice — (laughter) — at the steakhouse, the men’s cooking team cooking did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks.  And there was a lot of blame to go around.  But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership.  And so ultimately, you didn’t blame Lil’ Jon or Meatloaf.  (Laughter.)  You fired Gary Busey.  (Laughter.)  And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night.  (Laughter and applause.)  Well handled, sir.  (Laughter.)  Well handled,” Obama told the attendees.

His closing remarks to Trump are somewhat ironic, as Obama tells the crowd: “Say what you will about Mr. Trump, he certainly would bring some change to the White House.”

Seth Meyers was the speaker that followed Obama, and he picked up the ball and continued the lambasting of Trump.

“Donald Trump has been saying he will run for President as a Republican, which is surprising since I just assumed he was running as a joke. Donald Trump often appears on Fox, which is ironic because a Fox often appears on Donald Trump’s head. If you’re at the Washington Post table with Trump and you can’t finish your entree, don’t worry – the Fox will eat it,” Meyers said as he took his first swipes at Trump.

“Gary Busey said recently that Donald Trump would make a great President. Of course he said the same thing about an old rusty bird cage that he found,” Meyers said.

Taking a swipe at the Republican Party and Trump in tandem, Meyers said: “Donald Trump owns the Miss USA Pageant, which is great for Republicans since it will streamline their search for a Vice-President.”

Meyers brought race into the roast, telling the audience that Trump claims he has a “great relationship with the blacks, but unless the blacks are a family of white people I bet he is mistaken.”

The entire duration of the roast, Trump kept his composure, smiling and nodding.

Donald Trump may have had the last laugh, since he won the presidency Tuesday Nov. 8 over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
