Our Long National Nightmare Is Over: Alec Baldwin To Return To SNL As Trump

Font Size:

Last weekend, SNL’S Kate McKinnon brought all of America together to solemnly mourn the political career of Hillary Clinton. Well, all of America except for the hundreds of millions who didn’t vote for her. But they don’t count, except when it comes to winning elections.

Alec Baldwin didn’t show up for the entire episode, Trump wig or no. He publicly distanced himself from the role, after everyone had spent a whole month praising his Trump impression so fawningly. For some unknown reason, he just didn’t want to do it anymore. And a nation already in shock — except for everybody who wasn’t — begged him to come back.

Your entirely secular prayers have been answered, lefties! Tony Maglio, The Wrap:

Alec Baldwin will reprise his Donald Trump impersonation tomorrow on “Saturday Night Live,” but don’t expect him to be an every-week player…

“I’m going to do it again this weekend, but not all that often,” he told Vanity Fair…

Baldwin also explained why he didn’t do the actual Election Week episode: “There was a lot of things online that was said about it — like why didn’t I do it after the election? I was booked that weekend. Not even other jobs; we have things to do. It crashes every weekend.”

As his yoga instructor (and wife) Hilaria added, it’s really tough for Alec to do SNL because staying up so late ruins his Sundays.

Hey, everybody, Alec Baldwin didn’t want to stay up late to do his mediocre Trump impression on SNL.

The weekend after the election.

He wouldn’t have shown up if Hillary had won, either. He wouldn’t have eagerly twisted the knife. Why would he ever want to publicly humiliate Trump, or anybody else? Alec just ain’t a vindictive kinda guy.

Sure.

Let’s hope everybody at SNL has recovered a bit from this clearly devastating loss. Maybe this week they can put together a few jokes about it. Or, Kate McKinnon can sit at a grand piano again and hold back the sobs over her shattered dreams of a non-Republican woman in the White House.

Either way, it’ll be hilarious!
