Republican Pennsylvania Rep. Lou Barletta is attempting to become the Secretary of Transportation, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Daily Caller.
Rep. Barletta was an early supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and is on Trump’s transition executive committee. Before entering politics, Barletta founded and later sold Interstate Road Marking Corporation. The Pennsylvania congressmen also has experience with infrastructure from his time as mayor of Hazelton, Pa., and he is currently on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
Barletta’s congressional office would neither confirm nor deny the source’s claim that Barletta is gunning to become Secretary of Transportation. Republican Florida Rep. John Mica has previously told Politico that he is also interested in the cabinet position.
