Sweden is raiding its own museums for weapons to bolster defenses against Russia.

As Russia becomes more active along Sweden’s coastline in the Baltic Sea, officials are responding by yanking equipment not used since the Cold War out of retirement from weapons museums, reports a local Swedish outlet. Officials want to get an anti-ship missile system, the Saab Robotsystem 15 (RBS-15), back up and running for use in the Baltic Sea.

Defense officials took launch trucks for missiles from the museums, as well as components from missile boats and warships that had the same launch systems for the RBS-15. The trucks had been in the museums since 2000, when the missile system was disbanded.

WATCH:

Calling the reconstruction of land-based missile systems “extremely good” for the country’s defense, Swedish defense minister Peter Hultqvist said it would provide needed flexibility and capability in marine warfare. “That’s something we need,” he said at the site on Sweden’s coast where the system is being reconstructed.
