A Democratic super PAC made not-so-subtle references to lynching Republicans in an email that, rather ironically, asked supporters for donations to oppose President-elect Donald Trump’s allegedly “racist” chief strategist.

Democrats have called Steve Bannon, the former Breitbart News chairman, a “racist” and a “white supremacist” with ties to the alt-right. But a liberal super PAC is now saying they want to tie Bannon’s reputations “around the necks” of Republican senators.

“Help us tie Trump’s racist Chief Strategist around the necks of vulnerable Senate Republicans,” Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), wrote in an email to supporters titled “Air this ad on MSNBC?” Wednesday night.

“Tomorrow, as people talk politics over Thanksgiving dinner, we want to air this ad in DC and Arizona, home of Sen. Jeff Flake who says he gives ‘deference’ to Trump. This ad says that is not ok. Trump is not normal,” Green wrote.

“The ad features just unearthed video from a white supremacy conference this past weekend, in which people raise their arms and said, ‘Hail Trump.’ In the ad, even Glenn Beck calls Bannon racist — which says a lot,” Green wrote.

PCCC makes a second reference to hanging, or lynching, Republicans at the end of the email. The group linked to an ad bashing Flake for giving “deference” to Trump on picking his White House advisers and cabinet.

“Can you chip in $3 to air it and tie Trump’s extremism around Republican necks?” PCCC asked supporters, linking to the ad. PCCC wants to air the ad Thanksgiving day.

Flake is one of several Republican senators up for reelection in 2018 that Democrats believe they can defeat.

Trump announced Bannon would be chief strategist when he takes office in January. The decision riled up Democrats, who were quick to decry Bannon as a white supremacist — despite testimony from former colleagues saying he’s no racist.

Democrats also attacked Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions, Trump’s pick for attorney general, for racist remarks he allegedly made three decades ago that cost him a federal judge appointment.

Green, a former Democratic staffer, co-founded PCCC in 2009 with former SEIU organizer Stephanie Taylor. The super PAC has spent millions “helping candidates from the ‘Elizabeth Warren wing’ of American politics” get elected.

PCCC’s email even quotes Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren saying: “There can be no compromise with racism. No negotiation with hate.”
