Anderson Cooper challenged Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s assertion that Steve Bannon is a “white supremacist” in a CNN interview Wednesday, saying there is “no evidence” to back that up.

“He’s got as his strategic advisor a person who’s a white supremacist,” Warren said on CNN, referring to Trump’s decision to appoint Bannon as his chief strategist and chief counselor.

“Wait a minute, there’s no evidence he’s a white supremacist,” Cooper interrupted. “I mean he obviously … there’s people who are white supremacists who support Donald Trump and who support like Breitbart or Steve Bannon but –”

“Come on,” Warren replied, apparently stunned Cooper would question her assertion. “Are we really? I mean Steve Bannon has certainly associated himself with white supremacists. Will you go that far?”

“I don’t know that you can say though he is a white supremacist,” Cooper said.
