A Philadelphia city attorney has been identified as one of two men involved in spraying anti-Donald Trump graffiti on a building in the City of Brotherly Love last week.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, assistant city solicitor Duncan Lloyd was captured on video with another man who spraypainted “Fuck Trump” on a new grocery store.
Lloyd, who was seen walking down the city sidewalk with a glass of red wine in his hand, took photos or video of the message on his cell phone before walking off with the graffiti artist, video surveillance showed.
The cost of the damage is estimated to be between $3,000 and $10,000.
Craig Straw, the first deputy city solicitor confirmed to The Inquirer that Lloyd, 32, was involved in the incident.
“We do not condone this type of behavior from our employees,” Straw told the newspaper. “To my knowledge, Mr. Lloyd has already contacted the Philadelphia police and is cooperating with them. We will decide on a course of action once we obtain more information about the investigation.”
It is unclear whether Lloyd, who started working for the city in 2011 and makes more than $63,000 a year, will be allowed to keep his job.
The head of Philadelphia’s Republican party called for Lloyd to be fired.
“If the image of an upper-middle-class city attorney clad in a blazer and sipping wine while vandalizing an upscale grocery store with an anti-Trump message strikes you as perhaps the most bourgeois sight imaginable, that’s because it is,” Joe DeFelice told The Inquirer.
“Did the extra glass of Shiraz give him some sort of delusional confidence that there are no cameras on Germantown Avenue? The taxpayers should be entrusting exactly none of our faith into this man. He should be fired from our city’s Law Department immediately.”
