A frustrated Hillary Clinton aide said the email scandal was the most “overrated” and “destructive” story ever covered in presidential politics at a campaign post-mortem sponsored by Harvard University Thursday.

Sitting across the table from triumphant Donald Trump aides, Clinton campaign communications director Jen Palmieri said she regrets how she handled the coverage of Clinton’s use of a private server and email account while secretary of state.

The story will go down in history as “the most grossly overrated, over-covered and most destructive story in all of presidential politics,” Palmieri said, adding: “If I made one mistake, it was legitimizing the way the press covered this story line.”

Palmieri and other top strategists for Clinton’s campaign slammed the Trump campaign during the post-mortem typically set up a few weeks following the presidential election. The conversation devolved into a shouting match, as the Clinton camp blamed Trump’s win on white supremacy and the Trump camp called them sore losers in return. The discussion is typically civil, but this time the moderators had a hard time maintaining control.

“If providing a platform for white supremacists makes me a brilliant tactician, I am proud to have lost,” Palmieri said. “I would rather lose than win the way you guys did.”
