The liberal Huffington Post has Donald Trump’s favorable rating higher than his unfavorable score for the first time in the president-elect’s political career.

Huffington Post’s favorability tracker shows that 48.3 percent of Americans hold a favorable view of the Republican. That’s compared to 46.8 percent who view him in negative terms.

HuffPo’s tracker is an amalgamation of a variety of public opinion polls. Trump’s favorability number did not crack the 40 percent threshold until several weeks ago. And in the first update to the HuffPo tracking poll after Trump was elected president, only 41.7 percent of respondents viewed him favorably. Nearly 55 percent held a negative view of the real estate billionaire.

Trump’s rating was helped by a recent Bloomberg/Selzer poll of 999 adults conducted between Dec. 2 and Dec. 5. Fifty percent of respondents had a positive view of Trump compared to 43 percent who viewed him negatively.

A Politico/Morning Consult poll had Trump’s favorables and unfavorables at 48 percent. Those scores are a marked improvement over other recent polls. Two Ipsos/Reuters polls conducted last month had Trump’s favorability number at 48 percent at his unfavorability number at 52.
