President-elect Donald Trump said that leaders of Sprint Corporation just informed him that they are going to “bringing 5,000 jobs back to the United States.”

Trump spoke briefly with reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., Wednesday evening, when he delivered the news regarding Sprint.

“We just had some very good news,” the president-elect told pool reporters. “I was just called by the head people at Sprint and they are going to be bringing 5,000 jobs back to the United States, they have taken them from other countries. they are bringing them back to the United States,” he announced.

Trump attributed the news to his election, saying that the move from Sprint came, “because of what is happening and the spirit and the hope.”

Trump also announced that a new company, OneWeb, was going to be hiring 3,000 people. “So we have a combination of Sprint with 5,000 jobs and that’s coming from all over the world and also OneWeb,” Trump said.

“The company anticipates these jobs will support a variety of functions across the organization including its Customer Care and Sales teams,” Sprint said in an email to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Sprint said it plans to immediately begin discussions with its, “business partners, states and cities to determine the right locations in the U.S. to create these jobs,” and expect to add the 5,000 jobs by the end of the 2017 fiscal year (Sept. 30, 2017).

“We are excited to work with President-Elect Trump and his Administration to do our part to drive economic growth and create jobs in the U.S.,” Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said. “We believe it is critical for business and government to partner together to create more job opportunities in the U.S. and ensure prosperity for all Americans,” the CEO concluded.
