DC Dems Lament Lack Of Job Opportunities

Font Size:

It’s been a good ride, Democrats. You’ve spent eight glorious years basking in the benevolent light of Barack Obama, and the future seemed just as bright. Your way of looking at the world was the only way of looking at the world, and anyone who disagreed with you could be safely dismissed. If that didn’t shut ’em up, you could just unleash an online shaming campaign on them and their employers, or “no-platform” them until they went away, or otherwise maintain the comfort of your little bubble. America was your safe space, and you knew in your hearts that Hillary Clinton would keep you snugly ensconced right where you belonged. Looking down on the rest of us.

How about now?

Sarah Wheaton, Politico:

The job market is about to get even more crowded for Washington Democrats, as thousands of Obama appointees join the hundreds of Clinton campaign staffers looking for employment.

There’s rarely been less demand for their services…

It’s insult to injury for a generation of young operatives who are still managing their shock and grief from Hillary Clinton’s loss…

“It feels like there are just thousands of us trying to find a job, and there are no jobs,” said Mira Patel, a longtime Clinton aide who went from her Senate office to the State Department and, starting last summer, her presidential campaign.

No jobs for Clinton loyalists? Oh, dear. Let’s all take a moment to solemnly contemplate this grim news, and savor its delicious and deeply satisfying flavor.

It’s almost as if the past eight years were built on an untenably shaky foundation. Almost like a… well, like a house of cards.

Now that their dreams of glory have been shattered, these poor souls can always head out west. Libs are circling the wagons out there. Washington is full of eager young minds with nothing else to do and no practical life skills, and they could really be an asset to Meryl Streep’s 2020 presidential campaign.
