Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Thursday that CNN’s senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta needs to be disciplined by the news network.
President-elect Trump refused to call on Acosta during his press conference Wednesday. The CNN correspondent began shouting at Trump to no avail.

“Don’t be rude,” Trump said to Acosta who was shouting up to the podium. “No, I’m not going to give you a question. You are fake news.”
On Thursday, Gingrich expressed how he felt about Acosta’s behavior at the news conference the previous day.
“The reporter was an idiot. Trump pointed out he was an idiot. Most people in the country thought he was an idiot. I thought, from Trump’s standpoint, it was fine,” Gingrich told TMZ.
“I’m hoping Spicer will simply ban Acosta for 60 days, you know like hockey, when you bench somebody? Acosta needs to be benched for a couple weeks.”
