White Man In White-Owned Restaurant To Mixed-Race Couple: ‘You Couldn’t Find No White Woman?’

Font Size:

With the looming inauguration of Donald Trump, there’s no avoiding the fact that America in 2017 is a hotbed of racism unlike anyplace else on the planet. We haven’t seen such bigotry since the days of Emmett Till. And sadly, the following story just proves the point even further.

Anna Hopkins, DailyMail.com:

A shocking video has emerged showing an couple being racially abused as they shared a meal at a restaurant.

The couple, a white man and a black woman, were approached by an ‘interviewer’ who appeared to be trying to subtly record the conversation…

‘You couldn’t find no white woman? Like, you had to go that low, to the lowest rung of humanity.

‘If they even humans, it’s arguable that they even humans…’

‘What was it that made you that weak – that you’d get on your knees and bow to this less of a female – that’s lesser than a white woman in every way.’

A white man, asking another white man why he’s “weak” enough to be in a romantic relationship with a black woman. And questioning if she’s even a human being! In 2017. Wow. Just, just… wow.

If you’re white, and you can read that without feeling ashamed of yourself, you’re what’s wrong with this country. Here we are celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King, and you racists want to judge others by the color of their skin instead of the content of their character. How dare you? How dare you do this to America?

On behalf of white people everywhere, I want to apologize to African-Americans. You deserve better than us. You always have, and it looks like you always will.

P.S. Quick correction: I got it turned around. It was a black man sitting with a white woman, and their interlocutor was black. Here’s the video.

Well, that’s embarrassing. I regret the error, and I certainly meant no offense to the gentleman filming himself asking those questions.

On behalf of white people everywhere, I want to apologize to African-Americans. You deserve better than us. You always have, and it looks like you always will.
