Pilots from Southwest Airlines and NetJets appealed to President Donald Trump Tuesday to overturn a Dec. 2 Department of Transportation decision to allow the budget airline Norwegian Air International to operate in the United States.
It may have been a somewhat corporate affair intended to prevent new competition. However, overturning the Obama administration’s ruling would shield U.S. airlines and their employees, and as an attempt to utilize Trump’s protectionist platform, the demonstration may prove at least as effective as the Women’s March on Washington in creating policy change.
