President Donald Trump’s plans for immigration are strikingly similar to former President Bill Clinton’s 1995 immigration platform.

Trump signed executive orders Wednesday aimed at putting a stop to illegal immigration. The orders called for a wall to be built along the U.S.-Mexico border, more immigration enforcement officers to deal with deportations and a larger number of border patrol agents.

The executive orders also threatened to take away federal funding from sanctuary cities and contained plans to deport more illegal immigrants.

Trump’s immigration policy mirrors Clinton’s. Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address pointed out many of the same issues Trump plans to focus on.

WATCH:

“That’s why our administration has moved to aggressively secure our borders more, by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as every before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens,” Clinton said at the time.
