Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell really wishes President Donald Trump would stop tweeting, according to a Wednesday report from the Wall Street Journal.

McConnell addressed Trump’s Twitter use, asserting that things would go easier in Congress if he limited his tweets — at least about congressional matters.

“It would be, I think, easier for us to succeed were there fewer daily tweets,” McConnell said.

Trump’s tweets have been a nearly constant source of controversy. He has picked fights about polls:

Tweeted about major department stores:

And gone after federal judges he disagrees with:

McConnell discussed the Senate leadership’s relationship with Trump, pushing through questions about reported disagreements to focus on what Trump has accomplished so far while in office.

“I choose to focus on what he’s doing, because I think that’s exactly what the country needs,” McConnell told The Journal.

The Senate majority leader publicly opposed Trump on several issues earlier this month, condemning Trump’s attack on a federal judge that stayed an executive order that severely restricted travel from seven nations identified to be sources of terror.
