Richard Goodstein, a Democratic political strategist, blamed reports of workers skipping work to attend the “Day Without Immigrants” protests on White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon during a Monday night interview on Fox Business.

Over one hundred workers who walked out of work without permission were reported to have lost their jobs.

Goodstein agreed that companies need to have consequences to prevent employees not showing up for work, and that “a lot of these people were warned they were going to lose their jobs.”

Goodstein then tried to explain the fired workers’ conduct by reference to Bannon.

“Here’s the thing I think people need to keep in mind,” he told host Adam Shapiro. “It speaks to the sense of outrage when the President’s chief strategist is a white nationalist. And white supremacists and nationalists think that people of color are literally second class citizens.”

Goodstein then addressed “undocumented” workers who, by definition, are not U.S. citizens, who walked off the job in the agricultural and hospitality industries.

“If they start firing every one of those, forget whether they’ve left the job or not, but if they lose them all, if Donald Trump makes good on his claim to throw them all out of the country, good luck,” he warned.
