U.S. President Donald Trump praised the European Union as “wonderful” Thursday in an interview with Reuters.

“I’m totally in favor of it,” Trump said of the EU. “I think it’s wonderful. If they’re happy, I’m in favor of it.”

Trump further said he expects to maintain “very good relations” with the EU.

“I do, sure. I have very good relations with the EU,” he said. “But I thought that the U.K. would pull out of Brexit and I was right.”

Many European leaders have been concerned over what a Trump presidency would mean for the bloc. Guy Verhofstadt, the European Union’s Brexit negotiator, even named him one of three existential threats facing the EU. (RELATED: Top EU Official Compares Trump’s Emergence To The Threat Of ISIS)

Trump recently praised the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the EU, saying Brexit would “end up being a great thing.”

“I was in Turnberry [his Scottish golf course] and was doing a ribbon cutting because I bought Turnberry, which is doing unbelievably, and I’ll tell you, the fact that your pound sterling has gone down? Great. Because business is unbelievable in a lot of parts in the UK, as you know. I think Brexit is going to end up being a great thing,” Trump said in a January interview with The Sunday Times and German tabloid Bild.
