A 45-year-old Florida man is accused of driving off with a $150,000 sports car he was test driving, after reportedly distracting the salesman with his father’s boat.

Michael Lewis McGilvary gave his ID to the Ferrari-Maserati dealership in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday before taking the luxury vehicle for a spin, according to the Palm Beach Post Friday.

McGilvary told the salesman that he wanted to show the car to his girlfriend who was at the Boca Raton Resort and Club. As the two arrived at the retreat, McGilvary persuaded the salesman to come with him to see his dad’s boat on the port.

The alleged thief then said he had to get his girlfriend. After the car dealer waited on the dock for roughly 30 minutes, he realized something seemed suspicious. (RELATED: Authorities Find Man Guilty Of Hiding $165k Of Someone Else’s Gold In His Butt [VIDEO])

The salesman then spoke to a valet worker who said he witnessed McGilvary speed off in the conspicuous sports car, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Detectives later arrested McGilvary at a Starbucks just two miles from the location where the car went missing. (RELATED: ‘Contagious’ Double-Murder Suspect Live Streams Escape From Police)

McGilvary is still in jail as of Friday and is facing grand larceny of $100,000 or more, reports the Palm Beach post.
