Bill Paxton Dead At 61

Emmy-Award winning actor Bill Paxton died Saturday, according to a statement from the family, NBC News reports.

“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” a representative of the family said in a statement, according to People.

“Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable,” the statement continued.

News of his death comes the same day as the 89th Academy Awards in Hollywood, Calif. The tributes started pouring in over Twitter as news emerged of Paxton’s passing.

Paxton was born May 17th, 1955 and started acting in the 1970’s. He starred in Titanic, Twister, Apollo 13 Tombstone, Terminator and Aliens.

He won an Emmy Award for his role in the cable television series, Hatfield & McCoys.

The actor is survived by his two children, James and Lydia Paxton, and his wife of 30 years Louise Newbury.
