Cory Booker, One Year Ago: Supreme Court Nominees Deserve Up-Or-Down Vote, Regardless Of Party

Font Size:

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is meeting with Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch today. And if Booker meant what he said a little under a year ago, it’s good news for Gorsuch.

Here’s Booker talking to NJTV News back in March 2016:

“I’m a big believer, if the situations were reversed, and there was a Republican president in the last year on the federal level, I would be calling, just like some Republican senators have, I just listened to Senator Collins from Maine, saying we should be giving this person a hearing and an up-or-down vote. To not do so is violative of the United States Constitution.”

Knowing Senator Booker to be a man of integrity, I trust that he’ll stand behind this forceful statement of principle.

LOL!

So, what do you figure? Will Booker dodge this by saying he specified “a Republican president in the last year,” and Trump isn’t in his last year in office? Or will Booker just pretend he never said this? I’m sure he’ll think of something. It’s never too soon to start planning for 2020!
