Chicago went six days without a homicide for the first time in almost four years. The city experienced no fatal shootings from Feb. 26 to March 5, reports Fox 32 Chicago.

The last time the city went so long without a murder was in December 2012, when the city had a six day stretch of no fatal shootings, according to an analysis of crime data by the Chicago Tribune.

The death of Antoine D. Watkins marked the end of the recent pause on fatal shootings. Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said he died due to multiple gunshot wounds Sunday afternoon. His body was recovered about a block from his home in an empty parking lot, according to Chicago police.

It’s been almost two years since Chicago has gone a day without anyone being shot at all.

Homicides in Chicago have fallen slightly this year compared to 2016. There have been 103 homicides since Sunday compared to 109 homicides by March 5, 2016. Shootings have gone up though–520 shootings were committed by March 5 in 2016 while 539 shootings have occurred so far.

“Residents and business owners drive the safety of neighborhoods, and we are there to support them. The credit goes to our community partners,” said Anthony Guglielmi, the Chicago Police Department’s spokesperson.

Guglielmi attributes the change to multiple reasons. He pointed out that the department is using new technology that allows officers to respond to shootings more accurately and faster.

“We still have a lot of work to do, but the predictive analytics is one of many ingredients. The largest one is the investment of officers with the partnership of communities,” Guglielmi explained.
