Melania Trump hosted a luncheon in the State Dining Room at the White House Wednesday in honor of International Women’s Day.
The first lady received a standing ovation from the 50 or so guests when she entered the room, according to the pool report. Vice President Mike Pence’s wife Karen Pence, Kellyanne Conway, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Sen. Susan Collins, Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon and Ivanka Trump were all in attendance.
The president designated March Women’s History Month in an order one week ago.
On a day when women across the nation were staying home from work in the form of a thinly-veiled protest against some of the president’s policies, both he and his daughter Ivanka tweeted about International Women’s Day.
On International Women's Day, join me in honoring the critical role of women here in America & around the world.

Today, we celebrate women and are reminded of our collective voice and the powerful impact we have on our societies and economies. #IWD2017
