Democrats nationwide would prefer President Mike Pence over President Donald Trump by an overwhelming margin, according to a new poll published Wednesday by Buzzfeed.

An overwhelming 62 percent report they would feel comfortable if Pence sat in the oval office. PredictWise and Pollfish also reported that respondents felt both Pence and Trump were “equally bad” according to the wording of the questions.

“I never thought I’d be in a world where I’d say this, but I’d much rather have Mike Pence in the Oval Office,” a former senior Obama administration official told Buzzfeed.

“And the reason comes down to one word: crisis. All of the chaos of the last two months in the Trump White House has been self-inflicted.”

“I know Pence is a much more doctrinaire conservative, but he is not evil and he is not crazy,” said one of Bill Clinton’s former top White House staffers. “I know that’s a pathetically low bar for the most powerful job on earth, but if that’s the choice, it is an easy one.”

Democrats nationwide were whipped into a frenzy over Trump’s executive orders, as well as his continued use of Twitter, and the ongoing Russian allegations, and thousands of protesters took to the streets to show their rejection of Trump.

No other numbers were reported in the poll, including a margin of error. Pollsters did report that the survey included 1,200 responses in an online, app-based poll. The survey took place March 6.
