San Diego Border Officers Seize More Than 800 Pounds Of Drugs In One Weekend

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 808 pounds of narcotics at the southern border over the weekend, worth about $2.8 million CBP said in a media release Tuesday.

From Mar. 24-26, border officers at the ports of entry in San Diego and Imperial Valley Counties, seized 402 pounds of methamphetamine, 344 pounds of marijuana, 55 pounds of cocaine and seven pounds of heroin.

CBP officers found the drugs concealed in a number of different locations inside vehicles, including inside the fuel tank, spare tire and dashboard panel. Some of the drugs were found strapped to individuals who tried to enter the United States.

19 wanted fugitives in total were arrested by CBP officers over the course of the weekend, who were wanted on outstanding felony warrants.
