Donald Trump Jr. said going back to making business deals after spending 18 months on the campaign trail with his father is “boring” and causing him to consider a future in politics himself.

Donald Jr. was speaking to members of an elite gun club in Hicksville, New York when he said he’s interested in running for office somewhere down the line, according to Page Six. A source who was present said Donald Jr. sounded most interested in running for governor of New York, rather than becoming a congressman, a senator or mayor of New York.

Since his father became president, Donald Jr. and his brother Eric have been running the Trump Organization, but Donald Jr. joked that the business was no longer satisfying after the excitement of the campaign trail.

“Do I want to be behind the scenes and be a mouthpiece and fight back against crazy liberal media? Maybe,” he said. “Going back to doing deals is boring after 18 months. The politics bug bit me.”

It’s worth noting that Gov. Andrew Cuomo is up for re-election in 2018 and has clashed with the president on a number of political issues, including immigration, Obamacare and gun control.

Although Donald Jr. didn’t say he plans to do it anytime soon, it’s clear that he’s entertaining the idea of running for office. And if he does decide to run against Cuomo, he’ll likely have the support of the F6 Labs gun club strictly from his stance on the Second Amendment.

Trump sources denied that Donald Jr. has any immediate political aspirations, despite his comments at the club.

“Don [Jr.] has no intentions of running for political office at this time,” they told Page Six. “[He] is totally focused on running the Trump Organization with his brother,” the source added.
