A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed hard Monday afternoon at a golf course in Maryland.

The crash of the Fort Belvoir helicopter took place at the Breton Bay Golf Course at about 2 p.m. in the afternoon in Leonardtown, Maryland, NBC Washington reports.

Two medevac helicopters are arriving on the scene to assist. One of the crewmembers died at the scene and two were flown to the Baltimore Trauma Center, according to a report from TheBayNet.com.

Elizabeth Willing and Kat McCurdy witnessed the crash while they were kayaking in Breton Bay.

“We saw three helicopters,” Willing told TheBayNet.com. “One of them was lagging behind the other two. It started spinning. At first we thought it was doing tricks.”

“It disappeared behind the tree line and then we heard a big bang,” McCurdy added.

Kevin Bowen, an employee at the Breton Bay Gold and Country Club, told WTOP he spotted the Black Hawk helicopter flying low and then “saw it spinning.” The helicopter then crashed at the golf course for reasons still unknown.
