Sean Spicer told Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt Monday that the United States will take “proportional, justified action” against the Assad regime if it once again uses chemical weapons on the Syrian people.

“The president took proportional, justified action against Syria a few weeks ago,” the White House press secretary explained. “He made it clear at the time that kind of action, gassing babies and children was just horrific.”

“[Assad] says those were child actors,” the “Fox & Friends” host added.

Spicer responded by stating he doesn’t “think anyone in their right mind believes that.”

“When you look at the countries that are left supporting Syria — North Korea, Iran — it’s a very small group of folks,” he continued. “The rest of the civilized world stands strong with the United States in condemning these acts.”

“The United States will continue to exhibit leadership.”
