Members of several teachers unions are attacking Democrats by using President Donald Trump and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, according to a Sunday report from Politico.

The Los Angeles Teachers Union sent out mailers that targeted Democrats who seemed lenient on the Republican push for charter schools, according to the report.

“These are the candidates who will implement the Trump/DeVos education agenda in LA,” the mailers asserted.

Unions in New York and New Jersey followed suit in the line of attacks, and Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker didn’t escape the rage. He was criticized for working with DeVos on school choice reform during his tenure as mayor of Newark.

The groups are investing against local Democrats who supported Republican-backed school choice and charter school initiatives as part of a larger plan to protect “education standards.”

“The opportunity to brand a reformer as a Trump/DeVos Republican is a real risk for a Democrat,” Democratic consultant Mattis Goldman told Politico. “It’s important for candidates who disagree with that to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

The Los Angeles Teachers Union was already prepared to assault fellow Democrats if former Secretary of  State Hillary Clinton won against Trump in 2016. The group reportedly already planned to target LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as a Democrat who was working to “push back” the standards on education, according to Politico.

Republicans dominated the primary challenge news since Trump won the election. Members of Trump’s administration asked supporters to challenge members of the House Freedom Caucus in a primary, and President Donald Trump appeared to follow the same line of thinking when he called on members of the House Freedom Caucus to “fall in line” in a March tweet.
