Authorities arrested a man at Dulles International Airport after arriving on a flight with a bag of lollipops containing nearly two pounds of heroin.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped an unidentified man arriving on a flight from El Salvador when security flagged him as a business courier, meaning his luggage required a second round of routine security screenings. Officers searching his belongings found a bag of lollipops, which one agent found suspicious. Authorities discovered heroin smuggled inside the lollipops after smashing one of them open, reports WUSA9.

The total haul of heroin hidden inside the lollipops weighed roughly 1.56 pounds.

“CBP officers routinely inspect items upon entry to the U.S.,” Wayne Biondi, Area Port Director for the Port of Washington-Dulles, told WUSA9. “In this case, our search revealed illicit narcotics from entering the United States and ultimately our communities.”

Oddly enough, after conducting an interview, CPD officers concluded the unidentified man had no idea he was transporting heroin within the lollipops. Officials are not filing any charges against him over the incident. He is required to obtain a new visa before he is allowed back into the country.

The incident is the latest in a series of recent narcotics busts by security officials at U.S. airports. Police arrested two men attempting to use a dog to smuggle more than $1 million worth of heroin through JFK airport in New York City March 24.

Officers uncovered 10 bricks of heroin in a false bottom built into the base of the crate weighing roughly 22 pounds.

A drug smuggler flying into New York City from the Dominican Republic was apprehended by security March 4 in possession of cocaine. Juan Carlos Galan Luperon was attempting to get through security when agents noticed he was “busting out of his pants.” Officers searched Luperon and found roughly 10 pounds of cocaine taped to his legs.
