Tucker Carlson and Julissa Arce heartily debated the morality of President Trump’s proposed border wall on Fox News Thursday night.

Arce, who came to the U.S. illegally before working her way up the corporate ladder at Goldman Sachs and gaining citizenship through marriage, characterized the wall as “a symbol of hate” toward immigrants, a point that The Daily Caller founder clearly took issue with.

“It suggests that you don’t think America has a right to protect its borders,” he shot back at Arce. “That seems a very odd attitude for someone who has benefited so much from your adopted country.”

Arce would go on to argue that her claim isn’t odd, but just a manifestation of her right as a citizen to “voice” an opinion.

She also began to argue that the wall will put an unfair burden on American taxpayers, at which point Carlson shut her down.

“I’m not challenging your right to say what you think and I would defend it, literally. However, I don’t understand why a country’s desire to protect its border is an expression of hate.”

“I’m sorry, you know what?” he continued. “I don’t have any patience for that argument because that’s not a real argument.”
