A large majority of voters who supported President Donald Trump in the 2016 election approve of the job he’s done so far, according to a University of Virginia poll released Thursday.

Ninety-three percent of respondents who voted for Trump in November’s election approve of the job he’s done so far in the White House, compared to only 7 percent who disapprove.

Of that 93 percent, 42 percent strongly approve of Trump’s job as president, and 51 percent somewhat approve. Only 1 percent of Trump voters strongly disapprove of his job so far in the administration.

Trump voters were less understanding of Congress. Only 81 percent of respondents approve of the job that Republicans in Congress are doing. Seventeen percent of Trump voters approved of the job Democratic representatives did since Trump was elected.

A significant portion of Trump voters remained undecided on congressional races. Only 78 percent of Trump voters reported they planned to vote for a Republican candidate in their congressional district in the 2018 midterm elections. Respondents weren’t completely ready to make the switch to the Democratic Party, however. Nineteen percent of Trump voters asserted they were undecided in which party they planned to support in 2018.

Terrorism and the economy were the most important issues to Trump voters, followed closely by illegal immigration.

Trump’s approval rating among all voters is consistently low. The most recent Gallup poll revealed that 40 percent of registered voters approve of the job Trump is doing so far.

The poll included 1,000 Trump voters and ran from April 17 through April 19. The poll had a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points in either direction.
