Congresswoman Maxine Waters was honored with a standing ovation and thanked for her stance in “these times” Sunday at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards show.

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross appeared on stage with the California Democrat to present the “Best Fight Against the System” award and warned that she was about to go “off-script” before she began praising Waters for “her voice” in the current political atmosphere without specifically naming President Donald Trump.  (RELATED: Celebrities Have Meltdown Over ‘Nightmare’ Confirmation Of Jeff Sessions)

“I will take this moment to go off-script and say congresswoman Maxine Waters thank you for your work,” Ross explained. “Thank you for your voice and how you use it. And thank you for being an extraordinary example for all of us especially in these times.”  (RELATED: Angry Celebrities Call For Electoral College Coup Against Donald Trump [VIDEO])

Waters has been very outspoken against the president since he took office. She boycotted Trump’s inauguration, skipped his first speech to Congress and at times called for him to be impeached.
