Sen. Lindsey Graham is calling on James Comey to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee about his dinner with Donald Trump.

Graham said on NBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday that the testimony will be necessary to “clear the air” in light of Trump’s tweets that he may have secretly recorded the conversation. The dinner between Trump and Comey took place at the end of January, just a week after Trump was sworn in as president.

However, he also blasted Trump for the tweet and said he should refrain from commenting on the Russia investigation any further.

“You can’t be cute about tapes,” Graham opined.

“If there are any tapes, they need to be turned over…I doubt if there are, but we need to clear the air there too,” he told host Chuck Todd.

Graham declined to say whether he thought the tweet was threatening, but said it was definitely “inappropriate.”

“This tweet has to be answered…I have no evidence of collusion but the president needs to back off here and let the investigation go forward.”
