Mexico has illegal immigration problems of its own.

Statistics from the Honduran government reveal that Mexico has deported a thousand more Hondurans than the U.S. in 2017 so far.

The figures show that 16,332 Hondurans have been deported, 7,580 of which were from the U.S., and 8,726 were from Mexico. The vast majority of those deported, 84 percent, were men. (RELATED:Top Honduran Official Predicts Exodus After Texas Enacts Anti-Sanctuary City Law)

Most of Mexico’s deportations to the nearby nation are done over land, which allows for a quicker process. It was recently reported that Mexicans have been upset about illegal immigrant crime. Asylum requests in the nation have skyrocketed since President Trump was elected as the journey north to the U.S. has become more uncertain. For the U.S., Hondurans represent a significant share of the illegal immigrant population. They were the fourth most deported nationality in Fiscal Year 2016.
