Former Navy Seal Carl Higbie has come under fire for comments he made about singer Katy Perry, while he was a guest on Fox News Thursday.

WATCH:

Higbie flatly told Perry to “go to hell,” over comments she made about the terrorist bombing in Manchester.

He is now playing defense, but stands by his comments.

Bigbie told The Daily Caller News Foundation he didn’t go too far in the interview:

“No. I’m doubling down.”

“The problem is that Katy Perry lives in a bubble,” Higbie said.

“She influences millions of young children who believe everything that comes out of her mouth. It’s irresponsible of her to say something like this, when she has no understanding of the situation. Open borders would be a disaster.”

Higbie believes that a spell has been cast on the American public by the entertainment industry. He thinks this is driving people to Hollywood for answers instead of reporters or media personalities.

“People are captivated by pop culture,” Higbie said.

“It’s remarkable that people like Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian have multiple times the amount of followers as the Speaker of the House. Entertainers are not meant to inform. That isn’t their job.”
