A New York cinema announced Thursday that they will host women-only screenings of the new “Wonder Woman” film and send all proceeds to Planned Parenthood.

Alamo Drafthouse in New York City announced that the screenings are “for women ONLY” via Twitter, later clarifying that “any of our guests who identify as women” are welcome to attend on the June 4 and 5 screenings.

“The most iconic superheroine in comic book history finally has her own movie, and what better way to celebrate than with an all-female screening?” the cinema asked on its website.

Some users applauded Alamo’s decision.

“Guys can see literally any other screening,” stated voice actor Marianne Miller. “Nothing is being taken away. It’s an effort to get female voices heard.”

“This is brilliant and wonderful,” said another supporter. “You guys really are a terrific company.”

Others were more critical.

“You just had to cater to the mentally ill left, didn’t you,” said Mark Dice, a YouTube media analyst. “I’ll identify as a woman for the free screening,” he noted later on, after Alama’s second tweet. “Thanks for the clarification!”

“A ‘men’s only’ showing of Captain America at any time would ignite a wildfire from lefties,” said another user. “But okay, die on this hill dude.”

But for still other users, the cinema’s decision didn’t go far enough.

Alamo later bragged that its women-only screenings had sold out in an hour.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Alamo, but received no comment in time for press.
