Former President Barack Obama met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin Thursday, just hours before meeting with President Donald Trump at the NATO summit in Brussels

Obama spoke to a large crowd and cited God to make the case for immigration.

“In the eyes of God, a child on the other side of the border is no less worthy of love … than my own child,” CNN reported.

Obama cited God and immigration when Merkel sat down for a public discussion in front of a large crowd at a biennial festival for the German protestant church.

“The former president was invited to the Berlin event organized by the German evangelical protestant church a year ago, long before his successor was even elected,” according to CNN.

Obama was known for his relaxed stance on immigration, trying to pass an immigration law through the Supreme Court that was aimed to millions of illegals apply for work authorization in America, according to CNN. That law ended up being blocked by the Supreme Court.
