A former left-wing reporter for The Intercept is set to plead guilty to cyber-stalking charges after making eight bomb threats against Jewish Community Centers across the U.S., prosecutors said Tuesday.

Juan Thompson, who will appear in court on June 12, had tried to deny the charges in April soon after his arrest, claiming he was being framed because he was black, Reuters reported.Thompson reportedly made the threats in an elaborate plot to take revenge on his Jewish ex-girlfriend.

He faces up to five years in prison and up to a $25,000 fine.

A review of Thompson’s Twitter account showed him to be a communist holding anti-Trump beliefs. The disgraced journalist also supported Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for president. (RELATED: Anti-Trump Communist Arrested For Making Jewish Center Bomb Threats)

Prominent liberals used the threats against JCCs to attack Trump, arguing that they were somehow connected to his winning the election.

Thompson was not the only culprit to be caught faking the anti-Semitic threats, however. Just weeks after Thompson’s arrest, a 19-year-old Jewish American was arrested in Israel for carrying out threats of his own in the U.S. and around the world.

Thompson was fired from The Intercept after it was revealed that he made up sources and stories, including one about Charleston shooter Dylann Roof.
