Police arrested a man selling thousands of counterfeit drugs at the Bonnaroo music festival Thursday who said he was there “doing God’s work.”
Officers with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department busted David Brady, a 45-year-old from New York, attempting to sell fake narcotics to attendees. Police initially spotted him sitting under a tent at Pod 2 of the festival with what appeared to be drugs, reports The Tennessean.
When the officers approached Brady he abruptly stood up and threw a bag over his shoulder as a bag of mushrooms fell from his waist.
While searching Brady, officers found 37 fake molly pills, 22 bags of fake mushrooms, more than 1,000 hits of fake acid, 20 bags of counterfeit cocaine and an incense made to look like black-tar heroin.
Brady told deputies he was “doing God’s work by selling fake drugs,” according to the arrest warrant.
Authorities said that Brady, a resident of Albany, N.Y., has a warrant out for failing to show up to a scheduled court hearing in Franklin County, Ark. Officials in Arkansas plan to extradite Brady to stand trial.
Brady is charged with two counts of possession of counterfeit controlled substances and is scheduled to stand trial in Coffee County Court Aug. 11. Police jailed Brady on $120,000 bond.
