Miley Cyrus criticized Stefano Gabbana, designer for the Dolce & Gabbana fashion brand, for holding conservative values on Instagram Saturday.

Cyrus praised her brother, Braison Cyrus, on Instagram for walking in Dolce & Gabbana’s show in Italy on Saturday. She also took the event as an opportunity to criticize the designer’s political opinions due to their criticisms of gay couples having children, using surrogate mothers and dressing Melania Trump.

Congrats @braisonccyrus on walking in your 1st runway show…. It’s never been my little brothers dream to be a model as HE is one of the most talented musicians my ears have ever been given the gift of hearing…. BUT it is a Cyrus family trait to try everything once (within reason HA) and to embrace opportunities that encourage you to step out of your comfort zone! We believe in trying something new everyday! I love you Prince Suga Bear and seriously congratulations on your experience! I am so proud of you always…. From Nashville to Italy! PS D&G, I STRONGLY disagree with your politics…. but I do support your company’s effort to celebrate young artists & give them the platform to shine their light for all to see!

“The only family is the traditional one,” Dolce and Gabbana told Panorama, an Italian Magazine. Stefano Gabbana and and Domenico Dolce, co-designers of the brand, Dolce & Gabbama, were previously in a relationship for 23 years before breaking up in 2005.

“You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be,” added Dolce. They also said IVF is unnatural and should not be used for gay couples to have children. Elton John boycotted the brand as a result.

Dolce and Gabbana also dressed Melania Trump for the official white house portrait in 2017, creating much backlash on social media.

“PS D&G, I STRONGLY disagree with your politics…. but I do support your company’s effort to celebrate young artists & give them the platform to shine their light for all to see!” added Cyrus.  Her comment did not sit well with Gabbana.

“Ignorant!!!” Gabbana wrote in response.  Adding, “For your stupid comment never more work with him.”

In a separate post, Gabbana wrote, “We are Italian and we don’t care about politics and mostly neither about the American one! We make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it’s simply ignorant. We don’t need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us!!”

Cyrus has yet to respond.
