Woods was arrested for driving under the influence over Memorial Day weekend after police found him asleep behind the wheel of his car on the side of the road. Although Woods had not been drinking he did have several prescription drugs in his system and certainly shouldn’t have been driving in his condition.

“I’m currently receiving professional help to manage my medications and the ways that I deal with back pain and a sleep disorder,” Woods wrote. “I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support and understanding especially the fans and players on tour.”

The 41-year-old golfer has been plagued by back trouble for years and recently underwent fusion surgery in April. He blamed an unexpected reaction to his prescription medications for his DUI.

“I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions. I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved,” Tiger said in his statement after his arrest. “What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”
