The Washington Nationals bullpen is so bad they actually killed a man after blowing a lead — at least, according to a Richmond man’s obituary.

Patrick “Pat” Killebrew passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 68 last week “after watching the Washington Nationals relief pitchers blow yet another lead,” his obituary reads.
Killebrew was a father and husband, a longtime attorney and a United States Navy navigator, but perhaps most importantly, he was an avid baseball fan and player, according to the obituary published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The Nationals have lost five games on the season when entering the ninth inning with a lead. The team’s relieving pitchers have blown an atrocious 12 saves, earning them a 4.88 ERA, which is the fifth-worst in the MLB.
A celebration of Killebrew’s life is scheduled for July 2. Those organizing the service asked that those who want to honor Killebrew to “send ‘donations’ to the ‘Nationals Bullpen Fund,'” in lieu of flowers.
