South Dakota GOP Sen. John Thune lauded President Donald Trump’s involvement and engagement with health care legislation Wednesday.

After many reports from media outlets like The New York Times claimed that Trump had nothing to do with the GOP’s effort to pass health care and of his lack of knowledge on the matter, Thune attempted to set the record straight. He confidently spoke on how involved Trump has been, mentioning how he has met with many members to discuss their specific concerns with the bill.

“The president has been very involved. He’s engaged with individual members that have specific concerns they want addressed,” Thune said on Fox and Friends. “He’s engaged in our entire conference, as you saw yesterday. He had all Republicans come down to the White House and convey to them the sense of urgency in getting something done, and rescuing the American people in what is a failed Obamacare system.”

Thune ended the interview by saying he is confident that Senate Republicans will garner the 50 votes necessary to pass the health care bill and send it back to the House.
