A Colorado man shot and killed his son Saturday night because he allegedly thought his kin was an intruder.

Frank Leo Huner Jr., 58, called local authorities to notify them that he had shot someone who entered his residence, according to WTOL.

“RP [Reporting party] is saying he shot someone who came into his house. Now saying it’s his son, and he’s dead,” the dispatcher said during the call. Huner also reportedly told the emergency dispatcher that he shot his son approximately six times. (RELATED: ‘I Tried To Hill Him’: Pistol Wielding Grandma Takes On Armed Burglar)

The son, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead soon after.

The father was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. After posting a $50,000 bond, he was released, according to Fox.

Neighbors reportedly say they are very surprised by the arrest. Many call Huner a “good, decent man” who owns and works at an automobile repair shop, WTOL reports. (RELATED: Chicago Man With Concealed-Carry Permit Shoots, Kills Armed Robber)

Law enforcement officials say the charges could be altered as the investigation continues and details gradually unfold.
