Milan Airbnb is now permitting Italians to register to offer housing for refugees,a local Italian business magazine reported Monday.

Milan Airbnb created the project called Open Homes Refugees as an “experiment” in offering housing for migrants, Antonio Carnevale from StartupItalia! reported. Their goal is to provide housing for 100,000 refugees over the course of five years.

The portal connects hosts with NGO Refugees Welcome Italy, which offers housing for international refugees and advocates for Italians to follow the ideas of “social inclusion” in order to motivate people to provide assistance for refugees. Airbnb partners with these agencies to match refugees with hosts in Milan.

“It is easy to feel impotent in the face of major global challenges such as that of refugees, but there are actions that anyone can do and can make a difference,” says Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, according to StartupItalia!. He added that this can “change the life of a person who has had to leave everything behind.” (Related: Geneva Calls For More Help Amid Refugee Crisis In Italy)
