Genesis Villella, the daughter of slain NYPD officer Miosotis Familia, opened up to Fox News Thursday about losing her mother in an emotional interview.

Officer Familia was fatally shot in an unprovoked attack as she sat in her squad vehicle on July 5. Villa described being with her mom in her final moments in the hospital.

“I prayed over her,” she recalled through tears. “And I told her I love her…I love her a lot and I don’t want her to leave us.”

Villella said while her mom loved being a police officer and “her profession was important,” she also asserted that her mom “was more than that.”

“She was really funny. She was incredibly hilarious,” Villella said of her mother. “She was very smart — she was erudite. Well-spoken, well-read.”

“Our tiny family — it was such a strong tight-knit family,” Villella said of herself, her mother, and her younger twin siblings.
