French President Emmanuel Macron is stronger than President Donald Trump due to his use of “soft power,” France24 reported Tuesday.

Macron’s France is now considered the most influential country in the world, according to a Tuesday index.

“France’s four place jump was due in no small part to the global frenzy around Emmanuel Macron’s victory over the far-right Front National,” the report claimed. “The nation’s youngest ever president is riding a wave of domestic and international popularity – bolstered by his savvy online presence – as he looks to deliver on his pro-business and pro-EU agenda.”

In comparison, the U.S. fell behind France in the index due to President Donald Trump’s inflammatory comments.

“President Trump’s often divisive rhetoric has led to a sharp decline in the international polling,” the report said. “The US’s total score for polling fell nearly 10% from 2016 to 2017. And in the global affairs question, the US ranked 21st, and it should be noted polling was completed before Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.”

Macron previously stated at a press conference that he was “delighted” to meet with Trump in Paris July 14.
