A father reportedly punched his son at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in Florida Monday afternoon, according to the Miami Herald Tuesday.

Officers were called to the scene when Peter Juris, 40, walked out of the restaurant allegedly hitting his child on the back of the head while carrying him.

Juris attempted to drive away with his son in the backseat, however, witness Victor Castillo-Martinez, 23, blocked them from leaving by placing himself in front of the vehicle.

The boy, who was reportedly around three years old, had bruises on both of his eyes and face. Juris was charged with battery and child abuse with no great bodily harm. It was his first arrest.

The mother was in Coral Springs, Fla., getting her other child when contacted by police. The child was released to the custody of a family friend who brought him to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood.

Juris is currently in Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to police records.
