Felicity Jones of “Rogue One” and “Inferno” will appear as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a biopic about the Supreme Court justice’s life.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Jones was retained in place of Natalie Portman, who stepped back from the project. The film is called “On The Basis Of Sex,” an apparent reference to the text of Title IX of the Education Amendments, which prohibits sex discrimination in public education.

The movie will follow Ginsburg’s career, beginning as a law student at Harvard at Columbia, through her tenure as general counsel for the ACLU, and culminating with her appointment to the Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton in 1993.

The film will be directed by Mimi Leder and produced by Robert Cort. Shooting begins in Montreal in September.

The script is written by Daniel Stiepleman, nephew of the justice’s late husband, Martin Ginsburg.

“On the Basis of Sex” is the second film in as many years about the Supreme Court. HBO released a television drama called “Confirmation” concerning the contentious confirmation hearings of Justice Clarence Thomas in 2016. The portrayal was widely criticized as biased, or at least inaccurate, though those involved with the project continue to defend its presentation of events.
